About the FLAG Model Initiative
It all begins with an idea.
The FLAG model was not born from chance, but from observation—the very first step of the scientific method. At the heart of this observation were Dr Fernández Aguilar and Dr Suárez Muñoz, who noted that liver transplant recipients with poor outcomes consistently had lower levels of Factor V.
From that insight, a question emerged: could Factor V predict early graft dysfunction? This question became a hypothesis, and the hypothesis led to our first pilot study.
FLAG is the result of curiosity turned into data, and data turned into a clinical tool. It reflects how science progresses: step by step, guided by questions and fuelled by the will to improve patient care.
And like all good ideas, this is just the beginning.

“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.”
